ABOUT THE CHAIR

The UNESCO Chair on Science Education was established on the basis of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in June 2021 as part of a special UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme. Together with its partners and the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Chair’s purpose shall be to promote an integrated system of research, training, information, and documentation on science education. It will facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in Ukraine and other world regions.

The establishment of the UNESCO Chair is a response to social demands caused by increasing the scientific component of all spheres of modern society, the result of awareness of the University on the develop Ukraine’s scientific potential. The Chair provided an institutional opportunity to implement the principles of science education in teacher training actively. The Chair brought together a cohort of well-known science education theoreticians and practitioners who speak foreign languages who can successfully implement the Chair mission and objectives.

The UNESCO Chair on Science Education was established in pursuance of the Agreement between UNESCO and the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University signed on June 21, 2021.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Theoretical research in the field of scientific education together with partners;
  • Participation in internships, international projects, conferences;
  • Creating platforms for online science education courses;
  • Adaptation of GIS and remote sensing methods of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to the conditions of higher education;
  • Promoting the introduction of scientific education at the national and regional levels;
  • Promotion of scientific education in a professional environment;
  • Cooperation with UNESCO and the network of UNESCO departments.
